SECURING A ROOM FAQs

LIV Student is an organisation that believes university and student accommodation should be more than just a bedroom with access to campus and hordes of new people.

Our aim is to unite accommodation with the support, wellbeing, and experiences that students deserve from day one – helping them to navigate the complexities of moving to a new place and delivering authentic local experiences which invite residents to become a part of their new community.

Our accommodation is purpose-built for student tenants – boasting beautiful communal spaces, bright and open bedrooms, and all the facilities you need to thrive in your new environment.

Our booking process couldn’t be easier. To get started, have your photo ID and proof of address to hand, and visit the webpage which is linked to your chosen location. You then follow the process of choosing and confirming your ideal arrangement.

You will then have a chance to review all the details you have provided and to add any special arrangements or preferences you have, before everything is confirmed with a formal accommodation agreement.

Students should note that a deposit may be taken to secure your room. Deposits will be held in an independent and Government-authorised deposit protection scheme (UK only) and will be returned when you move out – subject to any damages or cleaning fees which need to be deducted following completion of your tenancy.

Absolutely! There is plenty of opportunity during the booking process to review and check through your arrangement and the contract relating to your accommodation. In fact, we urge you to keep checking and to be thorough!
Yes, our accommodation in each city is designed for full and part-time students only.

Definitely! Once you have completed the booking process online, make sure to get in touch with us directly to outline your preference and to let us know who you want to room with. Our aim when placing people together is always to match like minded people – considering your university, course, and age as well as any other special requests.

Generally our tenancies are for full years. If a shorter term agreement is something you are seeking or need to discuss, please get in touch with us directly to see if your needs can be accommodated.

Once your booking has been completed, we will send you an invitation email which will allow you to set up your rent payments. This information can then be found and accessed at any time in your personal portal on our website.

All rent payments can be arranged in a number of ways to make budgeting as easy as possible for you. Some of our tenants pay a lump sum at the start of each term, while others pay in instalments – it is up to you to decide which works best for you.

We advise residents to set up a local currency Direct Debit to avoid fees, remove the stress of payment deadlines and to ensure that you never miss a rent payment.

Our apartments are built to be as inclusive and accessible as possible, with specific rooms and living arrangements designed to facilitate and support those with all manner of disabilities. We understand that finding the right accommodation can be daunting for those living with disabilities, so please get in touch so we can discuss your individual needs directly and make sure that all your needs are catered for.

A guarantor is the best way to protect your place with us if things get tough, especially if you are struggling to pay your rent. If you are paying in instalments, then we do ask that you provide a guarantor or appoint a Housing Hand as your guarantor.

If you are paying your rent upfront in a single lump sum, a guarantor is not required.

We are no stranger to bad days or tough months – we’ve all been there, and we’ve all wished that the person at the other end of the phone was a little more understanding. Because of this, and in an effort to make our agreements as flexible as possible for our residents and students, if something occurs – like an emergency payment you have to make elsewhere, or your student loan doesn’t arrive on time – simply get in touch to discuss the situation with us directly. We can then amend your payment plan if required, to help you out.

No, this practice is banned for the duration of your tenancy.

LIVING EXPERIENCE FAQs

Absolutely – university is a time for making new friends (and besides, we know you’ll want to show off your new home!).

We do ask that those living in shared apartments or studios refrain from having more than one guest at any time, and that you keep overnight stays to a maximum of two nights per week.

Visitors also need to sign in at reception and sign out when they leave, to assist us in the event of a fire evacuation. In addition, please note that our visitor policy can be amended at any time.

Sorry, we don’t allow pets in our accommodation unless they are approved assistance or disability dogs.
Your move in date will be outlined in the agreement. We will also be in touch closer to the time to discuss the finer details and to make sure that you have everything you need.
When checking in we will need to see some form of photographic ID, such as a passport or driving licence.
In line with GDPR regulations we are unable to share names or contact details, however you will be given information on how to download and join the LIV Student app prior to arrival and move in day. This app will act as a form of networking platform prior to and during your tenancy.

We proudly offer superfast, unlimited, 100% FREE WiFi as part of each accommodation package.

Wired speeds reach up to 200MBs while wireless connection can reach speeds of up to 100MBs. The actual speed you will experience while using the Internet may vary and depends upon a variety of conditions, such as:

  • The performance of your computer or tablet (eg. its age, processing capability, its operating system, the number of applications running simultaneously and the presence of any adware and viruses).
  • The type of connection between your device and our equipment. For example, wireless connections may be slower than wired connections. Wireless connections may be subject to greater fluctuations, interference and congestion. We recommend that you connect your device via a cable if it has the capability, freeing up space for other devices on the wireless network.
  • The distance between your device and our equipment.
  • The time of day. During peak times there will be more congestion, which may affect the speed you receive.
We do not permit the use of cigarettes or vapes anywhere in LIV Student accommodation – inside or outside.

Send your questions to us directly and we will get back to you as soon as possible. And before you ask – no, there are no stupid questions. In fact, we can guarantee that if you ask it, someone else who was too scared to ask will be glad that you did!
